Biography
Dr. Karen L. Terrell (Ph.D.) is the Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Âé¶¹Porn, as well as a Faculty Associate for the Center for Equity, Leadership, and Social Justice in Education and the Founder and Co-Director of the Computational Thinking and ai Civics for All Research Lab. She has been an educator for over 25 years, promoting high-quality education for all. She also has served as a Turnaround School Mathematics Coach for Boston Public Schools, and she also has consulted for private and charter schools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, as well as the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services. She received her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Boston College in 2012.
Dr. Terrell is currently a member-at-large for the , a founding member of the TLC4ME Consortium (a nationwide research group for the thriving of multilingual learners), and a member of the review board for the . She has also been elected President-Elect of the . Dr. Terrell is an Innovation Fellow for Loyola’s Simon Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, a Faculty Fellow for Community-Engaged Teaching for the Center for Community, Service, and Justice, and a member of the 2026 T3 Teacher Leader Cadre for Texas Instruments. She is the Founder and Co-Director of the Computational Thinking and ai Civics for All Research Lab at Loyola. Her specialties include content and language integration, mathematics education, technology, and assessment for diverse learners.
