Learning Aims

The Sellinger School of Business provides a rigorous education that integrates business knowledge with leadership development. Our learning goals ensure students master core business concepts, apply critical thinking and analysis, communicate with clarity, and collaborate effectively to achieve results. Equally important, we prepare graduates to recognize barriers that limit organizational potential and implement strategies that foster more innovative, impactful, and sustainable workplaces.

Integrate Knowledge

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of major concepts using tools appropriate to the discipline.
  2. Complete a research project using methodology and tools appropriate to the discipline.

Critical Thinking & Analysis

  1. Identify, explain, analyze, interpret, and present issues related to discipline-specific core business competencies.
  2. Identify, use, and apply appropriate technology to solve discipline-specific business problems.
  3. Advance arguments supported by research and evidence.

Effective Communication 

  1. Communicate effectively in writing using logical arguments, organization, and correct grammar/mechanics.
  2. Communicate effectively in oral presentations using articulate, logical arguments, organization, and appropriate presentation materials.

Collaboration

  1. Plan activities and monitor project progress; communicate effectively within a team; contribute to team wellbeing; identify and resolve team problems effectively.

Equity and Justice

  1. Identify and discuss barriers to equity and social justice and their negative effects on organizations.
  2. Identify multiple strategies to remove such barriers and explain how doing so improves the organization.
